Lab Collaborations: Panel Discussion (17:00-18:00)

A panel of speakers from media labs around the world will discuss recent collaborations between labs and look at how shared residencies, collaborative projects and knowledge-sharing are being undertaken as strategies for organizational sustainability and growth. They’ll study three cases: Baltan Laboratories and Kitchen Budapest’s Beyond Data project; Naked on Pluto, by Dave Griffiths, Aymeric Mansoux and Marloes de Valk, developed at the Netherlands Media Art Institute (NIMk), Baltan Laboratories and Piksel Festival; and the mobile media lab residency collaboration between NIMk and Vivo Arte.mov in Brazil.

BEYOND DATA BOOK LAUNCH (18:00-19:00)

Presented by Angela Plohman, Baltan Laboratories and Melinda Sipos, Kitchen Budapest

Baltan Laboratories and Kitchen Budapest present a book on their recent collaborative project Beyond Data. Dutch and Hungarian artists and designers explored new ways of embodying digital data in a series of workshops in which the labs brought together their different working methodologies and networks. The book contains extensive documentation of the project, concepts developed during the collaboration and specially commissioned essays by Amanda McDonald Crowley, Attila Nemes and others. beyondata.kibu.hu
